Josy’s Story
“I have become much stronger, not only core strength, but my entire body.”
I had taken a few pilates mat classes at a local gym and a studio, I really enjoyed them but felt I was not getting the full benefit of the pilates method of exercise. I read several health articles promoting the pilates method in alleviating pain and discomfort. I was struggling with lower back, tailbone and sciatic pain. I asked the gym and studio owners who and where I should go to take proper pilates classes and they recommended Debbie Ross as being the best in the city. So I called the Ross Pilates Studio and set up a consultation. That was 2 years ago.
Within the first few months, my lower back and sciatic pain was decreasing. Such small but controlled movements were making such a difference. As I continued with weekly private classes, I noticed a change in my posture. I can sit for longer periods of time without back fatigue and pain. I have ease of movement in my daily work routine. Sitting at a computer all day, I noticed how I push myself straight up out of my chair using leg muscles rather than leaning forward with my back…even the simple movement of turning my head to look over my shoulder while driving feels different. I have easier, full rotation of the muscles. I have become much stronger, not only core strength, but my entire body.
Our recent trip to Costa Rica proved that I can hike through the rainforest and mountainous areas with ease. Again, I have completely different muscle control throughout my body and I have more energy!
I look forward to and enjoy every class. There is so much variety and so much to learn. I like how each instructor gives me a challenge, or they can modify a movement to accommodate an injury. I like how the instructors watch each client, making sure they are in proper alignment for each exercise. I like that every instructor explains the benefit of each exercise, how it strengthens the muscle, and body-and mind.
I have met so many beautiful, wonderful women. We encourage and challenge each other. We all leave exhausted but refreshed.
